Values Framework for Peer Working now available
4th October 2012
SRN have played, and continue to play, a key role in supporting and sustaining the development of peer working roles across the mental health sector.
There are currently around 37 peer workers in paid employment in Scotland and many more involved in supporting and developing the role. With the Scottish Government’s new mental health strategy supporting more peer to peer work, SRN aim to build on this success.
We also support a ‘Peer Learning Network’ of people actively involved in this emerging role. A focus of our work is to share with and learn from each other. Together, we have developed a Values Framework for Peer Working aimed at increasing understanding of the peer worker role and ensuring that it maintains the peer support ethos. The publication is being launched in Edinburgh on Thursday 4th October. You can download it via the link below. Plus, in this month’s eUpdate, SRN Network Officer, Lesley Smith, will take an in-depth look at the Framework, including how it came about and some of SRN’s future plans in this area of work.
