SRN delighted to support BLACKOUT in Fringe Line up

8th August 2018

SRN are delighted to support Blackout, a play about five people in recovery from alcoholism, showing at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe

Great reviews for Blackout (see bottom of page)

Developed by New Room Theatre, Blackout has also been chosen to be part of Made in Scotland which showcases world class performance from across the country at the Fringe.

Blackout is described as ‘the honest, brutal, uplifting and darkly comic story of five people and their hope in recovery from alcoholism’. The play is scripted entirely from interviews with recovering addicts, including the writer himself, Mark Jeary.

Audiences have found Blackout to be very powerful. Those who are undergoing active addiction have reported finding the show hopeful, and those in recovery have felt accurately portrayed and represented. Friends and family of those in recovery have felt they have come away from the show with a better understanding of their children, sisters, brothers and parents. Play writer, Mark Jeary, said:

Blackout is different because it’s socially engaged while still being an entertaining piece of theatre in its own right. It’s changed lives, which we genuinely think is amazing, and why we want to keep doing it.

Blackout will be performed during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival from the 1st until 26th August 2018 (except Mondays) at the Summerhall Old Lab.
