Meet SRN’s new Network Officer (North)

2nd October 2017

SRN is delighted to welcome to the team Holly Hendry. Holly is our new Network Officer for the North of Scotland.

SRN’s focus is to work with and in communities, to seek out and highlight innovation and develop opportunities for collaborative and co-produced projects. We have created a team which will work across Scotland at a national level and in three defined areas – West, East and North. We have three Network Officers who will represent SRN. Each Officer will engage with people, organisations and agencies.

In this interview we find out a little bit about Holly.

Why did you want to work with SRN?

I was introduced to SRN through my involvement in Making Recovery Real in Moray. I found this a really exciting project so when the opportunity came up to take the approach of Making Recovery Real across the North of Scotland I was keen to get involved. I was really interested in the direction of SRN’s strategic overview and felt inspired by this.

What does recovery means to you?

To me, it means connection; to family, friends, my community and the environment. And therefore everything that this brings.

What part can communities play in making recovery real?

I believe that communities of interest and geographical communities can play a big part in making recovery real. Real change happens in communities. Whether that is individually or collectively. The power lies within communities.

What are you looking forward to most in your new role?

I’m looking forward to meeting lots of new people, being able to explore the North of Scotland collaborating with partners, supporting and celebrating what’s happening locally in communities. I also look forward to being able bring people together to share innovation, knowledge and skills on a local, regional and national level.

What might our readers be surprised to know about you?

Ummmm. These are my least favourite kind of question. Readers might be surprised that I have a cat that goes by three names; Augustus, Catty Meow and Mr Cat. The poor thing is probably in a constant state of confusion!
