Progressing SDS and Mental Health: 30 September 2015
21st September 2015
The Mental Health Foundation invites you to a free event looking at self-directed support (SDS) in relation to mental health in Scotland.
The ‘Taking the Chance: Progressing SDS and Mental Health’ event will include:
- Learning from a three year programme with third sector provider organisations (in partnership with the Scottish Mental Health Cooperative)
- The launch of Peer Potential, a new Scottish Government funded project working with small peer led mental health organisations
- An open discussion on SDS and mental health with an invited panel of contributors
Chris White, Policy and Information Officer at the Mental Health Foundation, commented:
“Mental health remains a challenging area for the implementation of self-directed support in social care in Scotland.
“There should be a strong relationship between the self-management and recovery movements in mental health, and the ability to set and be supported to achieve personal outcomes using self-directed support.”
The event takes place on Wednesday 30th September 2015 from 10am to 4pm at the Scottish Youth Theatre, Glasgow. The Mental Health Foundation can provide subsistence and travel support to people with lived experience who want to take part in the event.
