MWCS publish revised covert medication guidance
6th January 2014
The Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland (MWCS) have updated their Covert Medication Good Practice Guide.
Regarding the recent revisions to the publication MWCS commented:
“It is a difficult and complex issue where our expertise in applying legal and ethical principles to individuals’ care and treatment is often needed. The use of covert medication appears to be increasing. It is therefore a good time to revise and re-issue our guidance… We greatly valued the cooperation of the Care Inspectorate in the revision of this guidance. As with all our recent publications we have increased the human rights focus in the new edition.”
