LGBT Mental Health project impact report published

13th November 2014

An Impact Report highlighting key findings from the LGBT Health and Wellbeing ‘Mental Health Demonstration Project’ is now available.

Funded by the Scottish Government and NHS Lothian the project was launched in response to evidence of the inequalities experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people around mental health.

The first of its kind in the UK, the project – assisted by an advisory group that included SRN – had two objectives:

  • To establish and deliver an effective LGBT mental health service for Lothian
  • To start to build an evidence base around ways to effectively reduce the health inequalities of LGBT people across Scotland

The Impact Report showcases some of the work undertaken with individuals and organisations and provides key findings around what makes mental health services inclusive, accessible and affirming.
