Join the Recovery Walk Scotland Glasgow host group

4th May 2018

Recovery Walk Scotland is looking for people from recovery communities (both addiction and mental health) to help promote and organise this year’s event.

The Recovery Walk and Festival will be held in Glasgow on the 15th September 2018. For the first time the event will bring people from addiction and mental health communities together to celebrate and promote recovery! SRN is delighted to be supporting the event and would encourage anyone with a passion for recovery and wellbeing to join the Glasgow host group. Host group activities include:

  • Promoting the walk to both addiction and mental health communities and services
  • Supporting the recovery and wellbeing awareness campaign among elected representatives
  • Helping to organise a Civic Reception for Recovery Walk Scotland
  • Helping to organise a large gathering of activists for a warm-up event in Glasgow this July

Amongst lots of other things it’s about building a network of friends that believe in celebrating recovery and wellbeing! Kuladharini, Chief Executive of the Scottish Recovery Consortium said:

What unites the addiction and mental health recovery movements is much greater than any details that may divide us. It has long been evident to us in the addiction recovery movement that we are on the same journey as our brothers and sisters in recovery from mental distress. Our collective distress expressed in mental distress, addiction, obesity, smoking and violence have many of the same roots. Its is time we make common cause – Recovery Walk Scotland is a perfect vehicle for us to know and love each other better.

The next Glasgow host network meeting will take place on Saturday the 19th of May from 2pm until 4pm at the Scottish Recovery Consortium’s office at 2/1, 30 Bell Street, Glasgow, G1 1LG.
