East of Scotland peer networking opportunity

19th September 2018

Lesley Smith, SRN’s Network Officer for the East of Scotland is looking to connect with people interested in peer support and learning.

Lesley writes:

As a SRN Network Officer travelling around the East of Scotland I have the privilege of meeting with many people discussing wellbeing and recovery, what it means for ourselves personally and for the people around us. Often broad reaching and encompassing conversations that include family, friends, our wider communities and the services we work in/use.

Common themes emerge from these discussions. Two that are really exciting just now are peer support and learning opportunities for people to build on their experience through increasing their knowledge and developing their skills. The Peer 2 Peer course covers both.

I find myself meeting with a number of different groups and organisations who are planning to develop the Peer 2 Peer course, currently offering this or other peer learning type courses. From our discussions we realise there is a wealth of knowledge and experience out there and it would be good to meet others involved to share learning and experience across the East of Scotland.

Let’s connect

Our intention is to bring people together to connect and share experiences.

  • Do you live/work across the East of Scotland (Borders, Lothian, Forth Valley, Fife, Tayside and Angus)?
  • Are involved in delivering Peer2Peer, similar peer learning courses or even thinking about it?
  • Would you welcome the opportunity to meet others also doing so?

If your answer to all 3 is yes please get in touch with me at with your interest and what you would hope to contribute and gain from such a meeting at lesley.smith@scottishrecovery.net

We are also planning an East Network event in late November focussing on the wider role and impact of lived experience. Watch this space or sign up to the SRN eUpdate for more details about this opportunity.

I look forward to hearing from you.
