Being Heard: a self-advocacy toolkit for carers

10th November 2014

The Carers Self-Advocacy Toolkit is a group of integrated resources produced by Carers Scotland, with support from the Scottish Government, to help carers get their voices heard.

The Toolkit has been designed to “ensure every carer has support to navigate a confusing system, communicate effectively and handle complex thoughts and feelings”.

At its centre is the ‘Being Heard ‘guide that provides information and techniques to help carers advocate for themselves. The guide also features more than 20 separate satellite resources, designed to enable carers to take a deeper look at different techniques or aspects of self-advocacy.

Carers Scotland is offering free training sessions to both carers and carers support workers using the Toolkit. For more information contact amy.anderson@carerscotland.org
