Background story development

Participants volunteered to take part in our narrative research project following a nationwide newspaper appeal for individuals who considered themselves to be in recovery, or recovered, from long-term mental health problems. Following the interviews, the SRN research team worked with participants to write anonymous stories based on the interview transcripts. Participants were asked to reflect upon their story to ensure that they felt it was an accurate representation of their experience and in many cases the participants selected their own story title. Full editing and deletion rights, and the right to withdraw their contribution to this project remained with participants at all times. SRN has worked hard to keep the stories anonymous but at the same time working to maintain the uniqueness and individuality of each story.
