On May 29th the Scottish Government launched the first national drugs strategy since devolution. Within the strategy, entitled 'The Road to Recovery - A New Approach to Tackling Scotland's Drug Problem', the central theme of this new approach to tackling problem drug use is based firmly on the concept of recovery. The strategy makes reference to the progress made around promoting recovery from long term mental health problems and how these principles can be applied to problem drug use. One of the actions the strategy proposes is the establishment of a Drug Recovery network, similar to that of the Scottish Recovery Network.
