In an effort to continue work around exploring the experiences of carers and the role they can play in recovery, we are looking to visit 4 or 5 carers groups in Scotland during January-March 2009 to discuss recovery and the experiences of carers, family members, and informal supporters of people experiencing mental health problems in supporting recovery. We are keen to meet with existing groups of informal carers to gather more information to help us in this work. If you are interested in hosting a session then we would come and meet with group members in a suitable location. We envisage that a session would last approximately 2 hours and would consist of:
This is an exciting opportunity for people to discuss recovery and its implications for family members, informal supporters and carers of people experiencing mental health issues. The information generated from these discussion groups will feed into this exploratory project which has been designed to inform and encourage further work around the role of carers/informal supporters in promoting recovery. If your group is interested in being a part of this work, please complete the Expression of Interest Form and return it to us by 19th December 2008. We will select groups based on the criteria below:

| Evaluating Recovery in Practice Training |
16 Jul Last year we commissioned Health in Mind and Penumbra to deliver a new training course, aimed at people who worked in the voluntary sector, called Recovery in Practice. Given the nature of this new course we were keen to learn more about how well it had worked so we commissioned an independent evaluation of the training, led by Jacki Gordon + Associates and we are now delighted to publish the findings. |
