Four new personal stories of recovery

We are delighted that four people have recently agreed to share their stories with the Scottish Recovery Network. You can read them on the stories pages of our website.

Billy chronicles the experiences he went through when he became depressed while working as a psychiatric nurse. In his opinion, "People with mental health difficulties are often a gift rather than a burden to society."

Kate Le Page’s story details how support from professionals, peers and others has supported her recovery from Anorexia. She says: “Through sharing my story, my hope is to see the erosion of the stigma and taboo that surround eating disorders, and mental illness.”

Alan Muir describes his life changing recovery from depression and emphasises the importance of sharing and support: "If you talk about it, it can’t fester in your head in the same way."

In his story, Peter Mackie explains how his own insights and spirituality have helped his recovery: "...the most important thing of all for me has been to find a strong spiritual feeling inside, which is the only thing that can stand as a rock through thick and thin."
