Staff changes at SRN

After six years with SRN, Network Manager, Taryn Carlton, is moving to pastures new to take up a new position and a new life in Northern Ireland.

Taryn has fulfilled a wide array of duties while at SRN including arranging some superb and innovative events, leading on the development of resources like Journeys of Recovery and generally keeping things on an even keel! She will be greatly missed by all at SRN but we are delighted to welcome Lucy Mulvagh as her replacement. Lucy comes with a wealth of experience in a range of settings including international development and human rights.

In a specially commissioned article for SRN, researcher and psychiatric survivor Dr Jayasree Kalathil explores the issues of recovery and resilience from the perspective of black women interviewed for a 2011 study by Survivor Research and the Mental Health Foundation. While the article focuses on recent data from England, there are important lessons to be learnt everywhere, including Scotland.
