A regular website item focusing on key SRN resources. Many people find that personal stories of recovery are an important source of both hope and of ideas. The Journeys of recovery audio recordings were created to make Journeys of recovery accessible to people who prefer the spoken word. The stories relate the diverse experiences of 12 narrators, all of whom consider themselves in recovery. The stories highlight many common recovery themes including meaningful activity and contributing, relationships and support, services and treatments, identity and self, turning points, and finances and housing. Many of the storytellers live with a diagnosis - some of the diagnoses referred to include personality disorder, agoraphobia, bipolar disorder, post traumatic stress disorder and schizophrenia. Quotes and short descriptions are provided to help locate stories of interest quickly. It’s important to be clear that these stories are personal reflections – and that there is no right or wrong way to recover. You can listen to the Journeys of recovery audio recordings on the website (recommended for slower connection speeds), or download them.
