On the road again - Mental Welfare Commission announce latest roadshows

The Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland are holding roadshows for people to come along to find out more about what they do. The Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland works to safeguard the rights and welfare of everyone with a mental illness, learning disability or other mental disorder.You can hear how mental health and incapacity law is working in Scotland and what they are doing to promote individual rights.

As well as information about what’s happening in Scotland, this year's roadshows will provide important information about opportunities to join their Board and team of Commission Visitors.

In a specially commissioned article for SRN, researcher and psychiatric survivor Dr Jayasree Kalathil explores the issues of recovery and resilience from the perspective of black women interviewed for a 2011 study by Survivor Research and the Mental Health Foundation. While the article focuses on recent data from England, there are important lessons to be learnt everywhere, including Scotland.
