The Mental Welfare Commission has announced its dates for roadshow events this year. Events will take place in Glasgow, Inverness and Dunfermline throughout November 2009. Roadshows are a great opportunity to get a quick, accessible overview of what the Commission has found out from its monitoring of mental health and incapacity laws as well as from its visits to people who receive health and social care services. They are also offer a ways to influence their work and ask questions about the Commissions role, priorities and future plans. 16 May In a specially commissioned article for SRN, researcher and psychiatric survivor Dr Jayasree Kalathil explores the issues of recovery and resilience from the perspective of black women interviewed for a 2011 study by Survivor Research and the Mental Health Foundation. While the article focuses on recent data from England, there are important lessons to be learnt everywhere, including Scotland. |
