Making Recovery Real - Oban

SRN is delighted to announce that we are now accepting bookings for the second Making Recovery Real Roadshow event. This event will take place on 24 February 2010 at the Caledonia Hotel in Oban. obanposter_rs

The aim of this event is to: 
  • Raise awareness of recovery from mental health problems.
  • Encourage local action that supports recovery.
  • Gather new insights about mental health
    and recovery.
This event is open to anyone with an interest in mental health, recovery and wellbeing.

A future event will also be held in Stranraer (24 March 2010).

In a specially commissioned article for SRN, researcher and psychiatric survivor Dr Jayasree Kalathil explores the issues of recovery and resilience from the perspective of black women interviewed for a 2011 study by Survivor Research and the Mental Health Foundation. While the article focuses on recent data from England, there are important lessons to be learnt everywhere, including Scotland.
