Shaping the Future of Care Together is a Green Paper from the UK Government. It sets out a vision for a new care and support system (benefits system) and highlights the challenges faced by the current care system. The Green Paper contains a number of consultation questions and asks everyone to provide their views on what they think of the proposed changes. Although the document refers specifically to England, the resulting decisions will have direct implications for Scotland. Specifically, the changes proposed in this document will have implications on how benefits (e.g. Attendance Allowance and Disability Living Allowance) are distributed. For example, the Green Paper proposes drawing some funding streams together and considers integrating some elements of disability benefits (e.g. Attendance Allowance) to create a new offer for individuals with care and support needs. The consultation closes on 13th November 2009. For more information or to contribute to the consultation, follow the links below.
