Announcing local event series

Duing winter 2009/2010 SRN will be embarking on a series of local events throughout Scotland. The purpose of these events is to raise awareness about recovery, to encourage action locally, to develop SRNs own learning about mental health and recovery, and to expand the network.

Our first stop will be in Caithness on 01 December 2009. In 2010 we will also be visiting Oban (Feburary) and Stranraer (March). Official dates for these two events are too be confirmed.

In a specially commissioned article for SRN, researcher and psychiatric survivor Dr Jayasree Kalathil explores the issues of recovery and resilience from the perspective of black women interviewed for a 2011 study by Survivor Research and the Mental Health Foundation. While the article focuses on recent data from England, there are important lessons to be learnt everywhere, including Scotland.
