Mental Health Recovery in the Highlands and Islands – What’s Needed?’

Birchwood Highland are to host a conference on recovery in Aviemore on Thursday 20th March 2008.

Speakers will include Alex McMahon (Scottish Government), Simon Bradstreet (Scottish Recovery Network), Graham Morgan and other Highland Users Group members, Allison Alexander and Susanne Forrest (NHS Education for Scotland) and William Ellis (Working to Recovery).

In a specially commissioned article for SRN, researcher and psychiatric survivor Dr Jayasree Kalathil explores the issues of recovery and resilience from the perspective of black women interviewed for a 2011 study by Survivor Research and the Mental Health Foundation. While the article focuses on recent data from England, there are important lessons to be learnt everywhere, including Scotland.
