SRN are delighted to announce that all speaker presentations and biographies, as well as a picture gallery from the event, are now available online.

ng2011_logo_grnpngThe Scottish Recovery Network’s sixth national conference held on 10th February was a tremendous success. Over 300 delegates from around Scotland and beyond gathered at the Crowne Plaza Glasgow, and many more participated ‘virtually’ via the live, interactive webcast.

Our aim was to provide an opportunity for Network members to come together to share information and consider next steps for the promotion and support of recovery in Scotland. Delegates represented all groups with an interest in recovery and mental health, including those with lived experience, family and friends, and professionals.

A fantastic day of information sharing and debate took place. Simon Bradstreet, SRN Director, opened discussions with a presentation about where SRN has come from and future plans, particularly in the context of the recent independent evaluation of the Network.

Professor Richard Warner of the University of Colorado and Director of Colorado Recovery then delivered a fascinating talk on recovery, employment and empowerment, with a particular focus on schizophrenia.

Widely recognised as one of the main highlights of the day was the powerful presentation given by recovery educator, Rona McBrierty, who shared her own story of mental health and recovery. Another high point was the performance poetry inspired by her own lived experience of poet in residence, Jo McFarlane.

We'll be uploading video footage of the event to our website very soon. In the meantime, please use the links below to see the presentations and picture gallery.
