Depression Alliance Scotland (DAS) have set up a survey to find out how helpful Facebook and Twitter are for people with experience of depression and other mental health problems.
DAS are a user-led organisation commited to providing support, raising awareness of depression and reducing the stigma that still surrounds the condition.
In a previous survey for their sister website Look OK…Feel Crap? which is aimed at young adults, 69% of people who replied said they didn’t feel comfortable talking about depression on Facebook.
With a response as high as this they wanted to know more, and whether there are other ways that Facebook and Twitter help mental health (or not).
Some of the questions they look at include: Do they help or do they make you feel worse? Do you experience stigma on Facebook or Twitter? Is one better than the other for mental health?
If you’re on Facebook or Twitter and have experienced depression or other mental health problems, and wish to take the survey go to the DAS website or go direct to the survey.
