Can you help with a survey of people with mental health problems living in the Dundee and Invergordon areas?

stigma_definition_photoThe survey is being carried out as part of a larger study for the Scottish Recovery Network and ‘see me’. The objective is to learn more about self stigma and what can be done to help reduce it and aid recovery. We are focusing on these two specific areas in the first instance to give us a comparison between urban and rural areas in Scotland.

About one in three people with mental health problems will take the negative attitudes around mental ill health to heart. This can affect the way that they see themselves, denting their confidence and self-esteem and holding them back from doing things that can help their recovery. This is what we mean by self stigma.

We are keen to gather the views and experience of anyone who feels that they currently have a mental health problem, whether or not they have been diagnosed with one.

The survey can be completed online by clicking on the following web link: Self-stigma online survey.

Alternatively, if you prefer to complete the survey in hard copy, click on the download link below. The return address details are on the bottom of the form. If you require a stamped addressed envelope to return your completed questionnaire, please contact SRN on 0141 240 7790 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. If you currently have a mental health problem and are living in either Dundee or Invergordon we would be very grateful if you could spare a few minutes to complete the survey.

Also, if you work with or know someone who has a mental health problem it would be good if you could ask them to participate in the survey.

Your participation is greatly appreciated. We thank you in advance for your support.
