PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 26 August 2009
In January 2008 the Scottish Government appointed a review group to undertake a limited review of the 2003 Mental Health Act to consider its efficiency and patient experiences.

The review group's recently published report to the minister focuses on five main areas of activity:
  • Advance statements
  • Independent Advocacy
  • Named persons
  • Medical matters
  • Mental health tribunals
This report has been put out for consultation with the aim of seeking views on the recommendations made by the review group, as well as the suggested further options for consideration.

The consultation will run for three months, until Friday 6 November 2009.

You can participate in the consultation by visiting the consultation section of the Scottish Governments website

(To access the consultation scroll down the page and look for 'Consultation on the review of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003', click on the 'Contact Info' link to the left of the title to access the documentation.)
