Story Sharing Guidance A guide to inform the process of sharing personal experiences related to mental health and recovery.

Most people agree that personal stories can be a great source of information, ideas and inspiration. But organisations and groups working with individuals to create personal narratives to use in their communications can find story sharing challenging.
Making sure that author and publisher share a common vision, deciding on an appropriate format, and safeguarding the wellbeing of the author, are amongst the issues that need careful thought to ensure things go smoothly.
Story Sharing Guidance was written for anyone interested in using personal narrative to communicate ideas about mental health and recovery. It will be particularly useful for publishers, facilitators, and people looking to share their personal experiences.
The guide discusses principles and process, and includes sections on planning, development, ‘going live’, and working with the media. Different formats are considered, including written narratives, speaking at events, and multimedia recordings.
Story Sharing Guidance is not intended to be a prescriptive list, but, instead, a sourcebook of ideas to help you plan a story sharing experience that meets the needs and expectations of everyone involved.
Story Sharing Guidance was published in 2009 Formats available: A4 booklet or pdf (24pp).
