NHS Health Scotland is organising a free conference on "Changing Minds: Sharing learning about race equality and mental health improvement in Scotland" in Edinburgh.

nhs_health_scotland_logoThe organisers would encourage participation by a wide variety of colleagues and partners with an interest or involvement in the mental health and wellbeing of Scotland's BME communities. NHS Health Scotland would also like policy makers, service providers, managers, staff/practitioners, researchers, users and carers to attend.

The conference aims are to:

  • Increase knowledge and understanding of race equality, equality and mental health improvement
  • Share transferable learning from positive examples of practice and engagement with BME communities around mental health and wellbeing
  • Provide opportunities for networking across mental health improvement, service delivery and BME organisational contexts.
  • Support mental health improvement and service delivery staff to look at mental health from a race and ethnicity perspective
  • Support staff in BME organisations to explore effective ways of supporting people's mental health
  • Share some of the transferable learning gathered from the national Mental Health & Race Equality Programme
