CAPS want as many people as possible to give their views on the Employment & Support Allowance and Work Capability Assessment.
CAPS (The Consultation & Advocacy Promotion Service) is an independent advocacy organisation for people who use or have used mental health services. In 2010 CAPS organised a meeting with service users to discuss their concerns about the new benefits system, during which the introduction of Employment & Support Allowance (ESA) and the Work Capability Assessment was highlighted as a major cause of concern and distress. CAPS have created a questionnaire asking about some aspects of the system, especially the relevance of the assessment for people with fluctuating mental health conditions and the level of stress it creates. To take part please visit the CAPS website. You may also be interested in an earlier article by consultant and trainer, Chris White, which discusses the benefit reforms. SRN advertise a range of events and resources developed by external organisations. In doing so we do not necessarily endorse or recommend them and we are in no way responsible for content or quality.
